Going out just got easier. Welcome to our blog, where we share the latest updates, news, and stories that matter to you.

    AirBnb

Being a tech start-up ourselves, we’re always interested in testing out the innovative products and services our peers are putting out into the world. With that said, the Drink Pass team has rented an apartment in NYC through AirBnb for this upcoming weekend!

Airbnb has become quite a popular way of vacationing these days and we’re excited to try it out ourselves for the first time (well, first for most of us)! According to Airbnb’s wiki, “Listings include private rooms, entire apartments, castles, boats, manors, tree houses, tipis, igloos, private islands and other properties”. We opted for a luxury midtown apartment this time, but expect a Drink Pass private island party courtesy of Airbnb in the future! Gone are the days of traditional hotels, check out the pics of our cool digs for the weekend!

    Infographic: America’s Drinking Habits
After a long week at the office, you’re ready for the weekend, and what better way to get things started by knocking down a couple of drinks?
We decided to create an infographic, asking the following questions:
What are the top 20 cities that drink the most?
What are the most popular drinks?
What are the top drinking holidays?
Most interestingly, Americans consumed on average 21 gallons of beer in 2010, or about 168 pints, maintaining beer’s dominance as America’s preferred choice of alcohol.

After a short stint with the olive, we decided to move forward with a different logo for Drink Pass. We wanted a logo that can readily be identified and remembered by the user. Furthermore, the letter “D” is more universal and reflects the simplicity with which we model our app to be like.
Feel free to share your thoughts about how you feel about the logo design. We appreciate any feedback we receive.

How many drinks on average do partygoers order on a given night out?
What are their favorite drinks?
At Drink Pass, these are questions we ask ourselves all the time. We believe in building a product that starts and ends with the user. Thus, we spend a lot of time researching and speaking with users. Here’s an interesting infographic providing a useful insight into the type of users we hope will eventually use and love our product.

The Drink Pass Story: (Part 1 of 2)

Welcome to the Drink Pass blog! This past week, we launched our website and we’ve been ecstatic with the response so far. In the first of this two-part series, we present to you the story of Drink Pass. This week, one of the co-founders, Andrew Chen, shares his story and how he came across his light bulb moment. Stay tuned for the final part of our series.

Ecstatic about finally making it past the chaotic line outside a club on a busy Saturday night, I make my way towards the bar with a few friends as I try to pick up the first round. Much to my dismay, I find myself waiting in yet another line.

As orders are made and people leave with their drinks, I struggle to push my way forward. After about fifteen minutes, I finally reach the counter and try grab the bartender’s attention. Unfortunately, he is too precoccupied taking orders from other patrons to notice me. Meanwhile, I take out my phone to kill some time as I wait my turn, and a thought suddenly crosses my mind.

“I wish I could just order drinks on my phone and never have to wait in this line…”

The thunderous clouds part, rays of light shine through and angelic music plays. That’s it! I’m going to create it and I’ll never have to sit through this wait ever again. No one likes to wait in line, and I’d much rather be hanging out with my friends.

And thus came the idea behind Drink Pass. Technology has allowed great advances in human efficiency, and my time is much better spent on my nights out with my friends than in line at a bar.

A colleague of mine once told me: “I finally realize how you come up with these business ideas… you just think of ways to be as lazy as possible.” I guess it’s a fine line between being lazy and being productive.

At Drink Pass headquarters, a very strong team is making this idea into reality. Alongside my co-founder, Thomas Pham, we have a great product planned for you all. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we embark on changing the way people go out. Thanks for reading!

    Cheers,

Ryan Higa(nigahiga) almost mentions Drink Pass

Last Friday, Ryan Higa, Youtube’s most subscribed user, published his latest video, “Clubs Sicken Me!” In it, he talks about turning 21 and his ventures to the nightclub scene. He warns viewers starting at around the 1 minute mark about some of the things he dislikes about clubs like the large crowds and trying to meet people.

Unsurprisingly, he talks about how difficult it was to even order a drink from the bar.

You wait at a bar with over 100 people and it takes forever to serve you. And when you finally order the drink, it costs like ten dollars. With that kind of money, you could get like 20 tacos from Jack in the Box.

Ryan, we couldn’t agree more. Stories like yours is what motivates the Drink Pass team.

The Drink Pass website is live!

After months of hard work, we’re pleased to announce that our website is now live! Sign up with your email address to be notified as soon as we launch, and become a part of our private beta.

Drink Pass is going to solve a problem many people face when they go out to a bar or club. Specifically, we are developing an app that lets you order drinks at a bar from your smartphone, as well as see where all your friends are headed to or currently checked in to. Skip the line and let the drink wait for you instead.

    Recently, we’ve been busy:

    • implementing core features
    • establishing connections and relationships with key influencers
    • acquiring amazing talent to join our staff

During the weeks ahead, we will continue making tremendous progress in reaching key milestones. Follow the latest updates from this blog, Twitter, and Facebook.

We’re extremely excited about where Drink Pass is headed and would love to have you join us along the ride. Stay tuned!
